Laura Tuohilampi is an associate professor in mathematics education in the University of Helsinki. Her research interests address affect, engagement and the social and contextual aspects of learning. She is currently active in following research projects: Australian – Spanish – Finnish project The Social Essentials of Learning (https://socialunitoflearning.iccr.edu.au); Finnish project MathTrack, which uses mobile gaze tracking to study attention and emotion in collaborative mathematical problem solving; Finnish project Autonomous assessment in mathematics learning, wherein a modern technology-based teaching is administered, and adaptive assessment practices developed. She has also published a book in Finland called Math Hunger, claiming that people are hungry for learning mathematics, when it is properly served. The international version of the book is in process. Tuohilampi has been awarded in Finland both by her dissertation and by her work of making mathematics more purposeful and inclusive.
